We once owned a 2010 Mini Cooper. Well, actually Kathy owned it and I watched her drive it. It proved to be unreliable. (Statistically, its year was Mini Cooper's worst year ever.) It was once down, awaiting a part, for five months!!! I finally went out and bought an upscale Accord for Kathy, and sold the Mini as soon as we got it running again. I listened for three years about how boring the Accord was. Especially a silver one. Then I started looking on the internet for another Mini. The one I found was three years old with 7,000 miles. We were very fortunate to find a Park Lane. It is an unusual model that combines the turbocharged "S" model with some creature comforts. We have only seen one other Park Lane since we owned this one. (Since 2019.)
I grabbed it and had it shipped to Fresno. Kathy loves me again. With the exception of the sound system, the Mini is completely stock. Leaving a car stock is against my nature but Kathy has threatened my life if I modify it. No performance mods but some great audio system mods are encouraged. The 2016 Mini Cooper does not have Carplay available. Mini has always been a bit behind on electronics. We found a company in Dubai that makes a system that connects BMW's (Mini is a BMW) highest end sound system with the Mini. It now has wireless Carplay, and substantially improved speakers all around. The new system also includes a backup camera. And a subwoofer that takes up half the cargo space.
